Yes, you can also explore Shakespearean tragedy and other immemorial works of English language in the heart of Paris too. Shakespeare and Company provides you the facility to take pleasure of English language with its bookshop. Situated in 37 Rue de la Bûcherie, on the bank of the Seine the bookshop is just opposite to Notre-Dame. Since its opening in 1951it has become a Left Bank bookish institution for the meeting place of Anglophone readers and writers.

Founded by an American George Whitman, the bookshop started its journey in the early 17th century building that was earlier a monastery. On the occasion of the four-hundredth anniversary of the legendary dramatist, William Shakespeare, the owner dedicated the shop’s name after him in order to pay homage to Shakespeare. But don’t mistake the bookstore where you will find only Shakespeare’s books, you can also get Hemingway, Joyce, Eliot, Stein, Fitzgerald, pond and of course writings from most of the eminent French writers. Moreover, you can customize the books in your own style by stamping, poetizicing and inserting photos.
