While in Amsterdam, you should never miss Van Gogh Museum even in case you are not so big fan of him. This world’s largest collection of Van Gogh offers his great line-up of masterpiece works. Apart from the artworks, its largely framed gleaming glass entrance hall is worthy to be seen. Designed by Gerrit Rietveld, the modern main building was actually completed by his partner after his death. Later on, elliptical exhibition wing was built by Kisho Kurokawa in order to give brilliant space for admiring the art works.
After visiting the museum, you can truly trace and feel the artist’s life from his timid start with giddy-coloured sunflower period to the black cloud descending over him along with his works. The museum also consists with the paintings of contemporary artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Bernard and Monet. Though it is considered as one of the most visited museums in the world, you will get enough space and moment to fall in love with the genius creations of Van Gogh. As queues are quite huge, you are required to pre-book your e-ticket and discount cards if you want a fast-track entry.
